Naomi first began painting in 1992. Over the years, she has taken art courses at the Berkshire Museum, Berkshire Community College and with area teachers. During the past several years, Naomi has received primary instruction from award-winning artist Gloria Malcolm Arnold of Lee. Naomi has made significant progress studying with this nationally recognized artist. Working with either canvas or paper, Naomi enjoys mostly painting with acrylics, frequently using them like oil by building up many layers of paint to get the desired effect. Naomi has also studied watercolors and pastels. Recently she has studied with Charles Gruppe and Frank Federico.
Traveling has been a major source of Naomi's artist inspiration. Many of her paintings are landscapes based on photos taken as she traveled to places as varied as The Netherlands, England, Scotland, Israel and throughout the United States. Each painting commemorates and preserves the special memories of her travels. Paintings of the Berkshires are also a large part of Naomi's collection. Specific commissions can be requested.
