Since leaving the Boston area and moving to the Berkshires in 1995, Marguerite Bride has been able to focus her time and energy upon pursuing her childhood dream…to become a painter.
Her formal art training began in 1992 with a course of study at the Worcester Art Museum, accompanied by private art lessons…and hours of practice. After moving to Lenox in 1995, she attended the Interlaken School of Art, and enrolled in the Visual Arts program at Berkshire Community College.
In 1999, Ms. Bride joined Berkshire Dreams Gallery in Great Barrington. Since that time, Bride's art career has continued to grow and flourish. Her work now hangs in homes and public spaces throughout the United States and in Europe and Japan.
In addition to gallery exhibits, Ms. Bride also accepts private commissions, with an emphasis on house portraits.
Most of Marguerite Bride's subjects can be found locally and regionally. She has spent the last couple of years capturing the beauty and serenity of all seasons of New England in her paintings. Other strong interests include the sights, textures and colors of Tuscany.
While watercolor is her current medium of choice, Ms. Bride has also worked in oils as well as printmaking, utilizing the collograph method. She has also done Graphic Design and is in the process of writing and illustrating a series of children's picture books based upon the lives and antics of her multiple golden retrievers.
Besides creating her own art and commissioned pieces, Ms. Bride also provides publicity/marketing consultation and technical assistance to other artists and art groups interested in promoting their own art and art in their communities.
Marguerite Bride, is a Registered Nurse and former software engineering manager, and makes her home in the beautiful Berkshire town of Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
