“Intensity of light, texture and color are the intricate details that define my love for photography.”
Cheri Markey Allison was born and raised in Lenox, Massachusetts, a small New England town located in the heart of the Berkshires. Specializing in rural and alternative imagery, she formed Cheri Allison Photography in 1995 to serve the home & office décor market.
After living away from the area and traveling for several years, Cheri returned to the Berkshires with her husband to raise their two children. Of all the places she has been, she finds that her inspiration comes from the natural beauty that the Berkshire’s affords her, and she has been able to capture and translate this local New England splendor into intriguing one-of-a-kind photographic images.
Since forming Cheri Allison Photography, Cheri has strived to add dimension to the still photograph by the use of digital enhancement, layered imagery, Polaroid emulsion transfer and SX70 manipulation to create unique works of art. This exploration has helped to keep Cheri’s imagery fresh and original.
An award-winning photographer, Cheri’s work has been featured in publications and calendars, as CD cover art and in juried shows. In 2002, her Dimensions of Light art card line was born; a popular, surreal card series featuring layered color imagery. Cheri’s photography is available as traditionally framed pieces, framed art tiles, murals, and specialty art cards. Her customers include homeowners, businesses and interior designers. Many of her pieces now accent homes and offices throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Japan.
“As an artist, I try to express my own, personal artistic vision through my photography, but as a business owner, I am selling a product, too,” Cheri says. “So I am very aware that my work must satisfy my creative needs as an artist and the consumer’s need for a special work of art that they can be proud take into their home or office to display.”
Cheri holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from the University of Massachusetts and has done graduate work in film at Ohio State University.
